In short

  • Unilearno connects learners with independent, verified Academic Experts (also called mentors) for guided 1:1 learning.
  • Sessions help you understand, practise and improve. Experts never complete assessed work for you, and your work stays your own.
  • You must be 18 or older to hold an account on your own. Learners under 18 need a parent or guardian’s consent and involvement.
  • Payments, cancellations, refunds and pre-booking orders follow their own policies, which form part of these Terms.
  • Nothing in these Terms removes rights you have under consumer law where you live.

About these Terms

These Terms of Use (the Terms) apply to the website at unilearno.com, its sub-domains, apps and any related services we provide (together, the Platform). The Platform is operated by UniLearno’s operating company, incorporated in India, whose name and registered office are shown on our Contact page (Unilearno, we, us or our).

These Terms form a binding agreement between you and us. They include the policies listed below, which also apply when you use the Platform:

If these Terms conflict with a specific policy, the specific policy applies to the matter it covers. If you do not agree to these Terms, please do not use the Platform.

Who can use Unilearno

You may create an account and use the Platform if:

  • you are 18 or older and able to form a binding contract; or
  • you are under 18 and your parent or guardian has agreed to these Terms on your behalf, consents to your use of the Platform and remains responsible for your use of it.

Learners under 13 may use the Platform only through an account created and managed by a parent or guardian. We may ask for proof of age or of parental consent at any time, and we may limit features (such as direct messaging) for learners under 18.

You must not use the Platform if we have previously suspended or removed your account, or if using it would break any law that applies to you.

Your account

To book sessions, you need an account. When you create one, you agree to:

  • give accurate, current and complete information, and keep it up to date;
  • keep your password secure and not share your account with anyone else;
  • tell us straight away at [email protected] if you think someone else has accessed your account;
  • use only one learner account, unless we agree otherwise (for example, a parent managing accounts for several children).

You are responsible for everything that happens under your account, unless it happens because of our failure to keep the Platform secure. Academic Expert accounts are also subject to verification checks described in section 5.

What Unilearno does, and doesn’t do

Unilearno is an expert-guided learning platform. We help you describe your Requirement, match you with relevant Academic Experts, book and run sessions, and pay securely.

Academic Experts are independent professionals, not our employees. They decide how to teach within our standards, and they are responsible for the guidance they give. We:

  • check each Academic Expert’s identity, qualifications and experience before approving them, and review their performance over time;
  • set and enforce standards through the Mentor Code of Conduct and our Academic Integrity Policy;
  • handle bookings, payments, cancellations, refunds and complaints between you and the Academic Expert.

Our verification is careful but cannot guarantee everything about an individual. If you have a concern about an Academic Expert, please tell us straight away (see section 15).

Unilearno is not a university, school or awarding body. We do not award credit, grades or qualifications, and we are not affiliated with your institution unless we say so in writing.

Sessions and bookings

When you submit a Requirement, we show you matched Academic Experts with their subjects, levels, availability and Fees. A Booking is confirmed when payment is complete and you receive a confirmation by email or in your account.

  • Single sessions are booked for a specific date and time.
  • Session series and packages give you a set number of sessions to use within 6 months of purchase, unless the offer says otherwise.
  • Pre-booking orders reserve expert time in advance, before an expert is confirmed. They follow the Pre-Booking Order Policy.

Sessions take place online through the Platform’s session tools or an approved video service. You are responsible for a suitable device, internet connection, camera and microphone. Please join on time: the Cancellation Policy explains what happens if you or the expert are late, cancel or do not attend.

If an Academic Expert becomes unavailable, we will offer you another suitable expert, a new time, Unilearno credit or a refund, in line with the Refund Policy.

Academic integrity

Unilearno exists to help you learn, not to do your work for you. By using the Platform, you agree that:

  • sessions are for understanding concepts, practising, getting feedback and building skills;
  • you will not ask an Academic Expert to write, complete, edit substantially, or sit any assessment, exam, quiz or assignment that you will submit or that will be graded;
  • you will follow your institution’s rules on academic integrity, collaboration and the use of AI, which take priority over anything on the Platform;
  • anything you submit for assessment will be your own work, prepared by you.

Academic Experts must refuse requests that break these rules. We may cancel a Booking, withhold a refund for a session used to attempt academic misconduct, and suspend or close accounts involved. Many countries, including Australia (Tertiary Education Quality and Standards Agency Act 2011) and England (Skills and Post-16 Education Act 2022), make it an offence to provide or advertise contract cheating services. We comply with those laws. Read the full Academic Integrity Policy.

Fees and payment

Fees are shown before you pay and depend on the Academic Expert, academic level, subject, session length and type of support. You agree to pay all Fees for your Bookings through the Platform, together with any taxes shown at checkout.

Payments are processed by secure third-party payment providers. You must not pay an Academic Expert directly or outside the Platform for a session arranged through Unilearno. Full details are in the Payment Policy.

Cancellations and refunds

You can cancel or reschedule a Booking in line with the Cancellation Policy. In summary, cancelling at least 24 hours before a session gives you a full refund, with reduced or no refunds for later cancellations and no-shows. Refunds, credits and how to request them are set out in the Refund Policy.

Your content and how we use it

You keep ownership of your User Content. To run the Platform, you give us a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free licence to host, store, copy, transmit and display your User Content only as needed to:

  • provide sessions, matching, messaging and support to you;
  • keep the Platform safe, investigate complaints and enforce these Terms;
  • meet legal obligations.

We will not publish your User Content or use it to market Unilearno without your permission. We do not sell your User Content. If you post a public review, you allow us to display it on the Platform with your first name or chosen display name.

You confirm that you have the right to share your User Content and that it does not infringe anyone’s rights or break our Acceptable Use Policy. Please do not upload other people’s personal information or confidential material unless you are allowed to.

Our intellectual property

The Platform, including its design, software, text, graphics, logos, learning resources, guides and the Unilearno name and brand, is owned by us or our licensors and protected by intellectual property laws.

We give you a personal, non-transferable, revocable licence to use the Platform and its resources for your own learning. You must not copy, sell, republish, frame, scrape or create derivative works from the Platform or its resources except as allowed by law or with our written permission. Session materials an Academic Expert creates for you may be used for your own personal study.

If you believe content on the Platform infringes your copyright, follow our Copyright Infringement Policy.

AI and technology features

We may offer technology features, including AI-assisted tools for matching, scheduling, summaries or practice. These tools support learning; they do not replace your own thinking or an Academic Expert’s judgement. AI output can be inaccurate, so check important information. You must use AI tools in line with your institution’s rules and our Academic Integrity Policy. We explain how these tools use personal information in our Privacy Policy.

Acceptable use

You agree to use the Platform lawfully, safely and respectfully, and to follow our Acceptable Use Policy. Among other things, you must not harass anyone, share harmful or illegal content, misuse other people’s information, interfere with the Platform’s security, or try to move sessions or payments off the Platform.

Third-party services and links

The Platform may use or link to services run by others, such as payment providers, video-conferencing tools, calendars and external websites. Their own terms and privacy policies apply, and we are not responsible for their content or practices. We choose providers carefully and only share the information they need.

Complaints and feedback

If something goes wrong, tell us at [email protected]. Please include your booking reference and what happened. We aim to reply within two business days.

If you are not satisfied with our response, you can ask for your complaint to be reviewed by our Grievance Officer, who will acknowledge it within 24 hours and aim to resolve it within 15 days. You may also contact a consumer protection authority or regulator where you live.

Disclaimers

We work hard to provide a high-quality Platform and to verify the Academic Experts on it. To the extent the law allows:

  • we do not promise any particular grade, result, admission, qualification or outcome. Your results depend on your own work and your institution’s decisions;
  • the Platform is provided “as is” and “as available”. We do not guarantee it will always be available, uninterrupted or error-free, although we will try to fix problems quickly;
  • learning resources and guides are general information, not professional, legal, medical or financial advice.

Your consumer rights. Nothing in these Terms excludes, restricts or modifies any right or remedy, or any guarantee, warranty or other term or condition, implied or imposed by law that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited. This includes the consumer guarantees under the Australian Consumer Law, your statutory rights under the UK Consumer Rights Act 2015, and your rights under India’s Consumer Protection Act 2019. Where the law allows us to limit our liability for breach of a non-excludable guarantee, our liability is limited (at our choice) to supplying the services again or paying the cost of having them supplied again.

Limitation of liability

To the extent permitted by law:

  • we are not liable for any indirect or consequential loss, or for loss of profits, revenue, data, opportunity or goodwill, arising from your use of the Platform;
  • we are not liable for loss caused by events outside our reasonable control, such as internet or power failures, natural disasters or actions of governments;
  • our total liability to you for all claims relating to the Platform is limited to the Fees you paid us in the 3 months before the event giving rise to the claim.

These limits do not apply to liability that cannot be limited by law, including liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud.

Your responsibility to us

If you break these Terms or the law, or infringe someone else’s rights, and this causes a claim against us, you agree to cover the reasonable losses and costs (including legal fees) we incur as a result, to the extent caused by you. This does not apply to consumers where such an obligation is not permitted by law.

Suspension and closing accounts

You can close your account at any time by contacting us. Bookings you have already paid for will be handled under the Cancellation Policy and Refund Policy.

We may suspend, limit or close your account, or cancel Bookings, if:

  • you seriously or repeatedly break these Terms or our policies, including the Academic Integrity Policy;
  • we need to protect a learner, an Academic Expert, the public or the Platform;
  • we are required to by law or by a regulator; or
  • your account has been inactive for more than 24 months (we will tell you first).

Where reasonable, we will tell you why and give you a chance to respond. If we close your account without good reason related to your conduct, we will refund any prepaid Fees for sessions not yet delivered.

Changes to the Platform and these Terms

We may update the Platform and these Terms from time to time, for example to reflect new features, legal requirements or feedback. If we make a material change, we will tell you by email or on the Platform at least 14 days before it takes effect, unless the change is needed sooner for legal or safety reasons. The version that applies to a Booking is the one in force when you made it. If you do not agree to a change, you can close your account before it takes effect.

Governing law and disputes

These Terms are governed by the laws of India. Before starting formal proceedings, please contact us so we can try to resolve the issue informally; we will both try in good faith for at least 30 days.

If a dispute cannot be resolved informally, it will be referred to arbitration by a sole arbitrator under the Arbitration and Conciliation Act 1996. The seat of arbitration will be Noida, Uttar Pradesh, India, and the proceedings will be in English. Subject to this, the courts at Gautam Buddha Nagar, Uttar Pradesh, will have jurisdiction.

If you are a consumer living outside India, this section does not stop you from bringing a claim in the courts of the country where you live, or relying on mandatory consumer protection laws of that country.
