Unilearno policy

Acceptable Use Policy

This Acceptable Use Policy sets the rules for using Unilearno safely, lawfully and respectfully. It applies to everything you do on the Platform: sessions, messages, files, profiles, reviews and resources. Breaking these rules can lead to content removal, account suspension or closure, and reporting to the authorities.

In short

  • Treat everyone with respect. Harassment, discrimination and abuse are never allowed.
  • Use Unilearno for learning, not for completing assessed work. Contract cheating is prohibited.
  • Keep sessions, messages and payments on the Platform. Off-platform deals are not allowed.
  • Don’t share illegal, harmful or infringing content, or other people’s personal information without permission.
  • Don’t interfere with the Platform’s security, scrape it or misuse it.

Who this policy applies to

This policy applies to every person who uses Unilearno, including learners, parents and guardians, Academic Experts (mentors), applicants, partners and website visitors. It forms part of our Terms of Use. Academic Experts must also follow the Mentor Code of Conduct, and learners the Student Code of Ethical Use.

Respectful conduct

Unilearno is a place for learning. Everyone must feel safe asking questions and making mistakes. You must not:

  • harass, bully, threaten, intimidate, stalk or humiliate anyone;
  • discriminate against or demean anyone because of race, ethnicity, nationality, caste, religion, sex, gender identity, sexual orientation, disability, age or any other protected characteristic;
  • use hateful, obscene, sexually explicit or violent language or imagery;
  • make sexual comments or advances, or request personal relationships, particularly with learners under 18;
  • impersonate another person or misrepresent your identity, qualifications, institution or affiliation;
  • disrupt sessions, for example by inviting unauthorised people, sharing inappropriate screens or behaving disruptively.

Academic integrity

You must use Unilearno to learn, not to have assessed work done for you. You must not:

  • ask, offer or pay anyone to write, complete, substantially edit or sit any assignment, exam, quiz, test or other assessed work;
  • share questions or content from live or upcoming exams or assessments where your institution forbids it;
  • upload your institution’s confidential assessment materials if you are not allowed to share them;
  • use the Platform to buy, sell or exchange completed assignments, essays or exam answers;
  • advertise or promote contract cheating or essay-writing services.

Our Academic Integrity Policy explains what guided learning can and cannot include.

Keep everything on the Platform

Keeping sessions, communication and payments on Unilearno protects learners and experts, lets us resolve disputes and keeps young learners safe. You must not:

  • share personal contact details (phone numbers, personal email, social media handles or messaging app IDs) to move communication off the Platform;
  • arrange, pay for or accept payment for sessions outside the Platform with a person you met through Unilearno;
  • invite learners or experts to use another service to avoid our fees or rules.

These restrictions apply during your relationship on the Platform and for 12 months after your last session with that person, unless we agree otherwise in writing. Academic Experts must never contact learners under 18 outside the Platform.

Prohibited content

You must not upload, share, send or display any content that:

  • is illegal, or promotes or facilitates illegal activity;
  • sexualises or endangers children in any way (we report this to the authorities immediately);
  • is defamatory, fraudulent, deceptive or misleading;
  • infringes copyright, trademarks or other intellectual property rights (see our Copyright Infringement Policy);
  • contains someone else’s personal information or confidential information without permission;
  • promotes self-harm, suicide, violence, terrorism or extremism;
  • is spam, chain messages, pyramid schemes or unsolicited advertising;
  • contains viruses, malware or harmful code.

If you see content that worries you, report it to [email protected]. If someone is in immediate danger, contact your local emergency services first.

Security and technical misuse

You must not:

  • access, or try to access, accounts, systems or data you are not authorised to use;
  • probe, scan or test the vulnerability of the Platform, or breach security or authentication measures, except under a security research arrangement agreed with us;
  • use bots, scrapers, crawlers or other automated means to access, copy or collect data from the Platform, other than standard search engine crawlers that follow our robots.txt;
  • overload, disrupt or interfere with the Platform, for example through denial-of-service attacks;
  • reverse engineer, decompile or copy our software, except where the law allows;
  • sell, transfer or share your account, or create accounts using false information.

If you discover a security vulnerability, please report it responsibly to [email protected]. Our security contact details are also published at /.well-known/security.txt.

Fair use of reviews and ratings

Reviews help learners choose the right expert, so they must be honest. You must not post fake reviews, review yourself, offer or accept incentives for reviews, pressure someone to change a review, or post reviews that include personal information or offensive content. We may remove reviews that break these rules.

Recording and sharing sessions

You must not record, photograph, screenshot or stream a session, or share session content publicly, without the consent of everyone in the session. Materials an Academic Expert shares with you are for your personal learning and must not be resold or published.

Reporting and enforcement

We may review content and activity on the Platform, using automated tools and manual checks, to enforce this policy and keep people safe, in line with our Privacy Policy.

If you break this policy, we may take one or more of these actions, depending on the seriousness:

  • remove or restrict content;
  • give a warning;
  • cancel Bookings, withhold refunds for sessions used in breach of this policy, or withhold expert payouts;
  • suspend or permanently close accounts;
  • report the matter to law enforcement, regulators or, where appropriate and lawful, an educational institution.

Where reasonable, we will explain our decision and give you an opportunity to respond. You can appeal a decision by emailing [email protected] within 14 days.

Changes

We may update this policy as the Platform and the law change. The latest version is always on this page.
