Unilearno policy

Student Code of Ethical Use

This Student Code of Ethical Use sets out the commitments every learner makes when using Unilearno. It turns our approach into everyday practice: learn honestly, own your work, respect the people who help you, and use technology responsibly.

Applies to: Learners (and parents or guardians of learners under 18)

In short

  • I use Unilearno to understand, practise and improve, not to have my work done for me.
  • Everything I submit for assessment is my own work, and I follow my institution’s rules.
  • I am honest about who I am, what I need and the support I received.
  • I treat Academic Experts and Unilearno staff with respect, and keep everything on the Platform.
  • I use AI and other tools to support my thinking, never to replace it.

About this Code

This Code applies to every learner who uses Unilearno, at every level. If you are under 18, your parent or guardian agrees to support you in following it. The Code forms part of our Terms of Use and works alongside our Academic Integrity Policy and Acceptable Use Policy.

By booking a session, you confirm that you have read and agree to follow this Code.

My commitments

1. I learn honestly

  • I use sessions to understand concepts, practise with examples, get feedback and build skills.
  • I do not ask an Academic Expert to write, complete, substantially edit or sit any assessment, exam, quiz or assignment for me.
  • I do not book sessions while I am completing a live or timed assessment.
  • If an expert tells me a request is not allowed, I accept their decision and focus on learning the skill instead.

2. I own my work

  • Everything I submit for assessment is prepared by me, in my own words, code, calculations and analysis.
  • I apply what I learn in a session to my own work myself, after the session.
  • I reference all sources properly and do not present anyone else’s ideas, words or data as my own.
  • I never submit materials, notes or examples from a session as my own assessed work.

3. I follow my institution’s rules

  • I know and follow my institution’s policies on academic integrity, collaboration, external help and AI. Where they are stricter than Unilearno’s, they come first.
  • If my institution asks what support I received, I describe it honestly.
  • I do not share confidential exam papers or assessment materials when my institution forbids it.

4. I use AI responsibly

  • I use AI tools only in ways my course allows, and acknowledge them where required.
  • I use AI to explore, explain and practise, not to generate work I submit as my own.
  • I check AI output carefully, because it can be wrong or invent sources.
  • I never use AI or paraphrasing tools to disguise copied work or avoid detection.

5. I am honest and accurate

  • I give accurate information about my identity, level, course and needs.
  • I describe my requirement truthfully, including whether it relates to assessed work.
  • I leave fair, honest reviews based on my real experience.

6. I respect everyone

  • I am polite, patient and professional with Academic Experts, other learners and Unilearno staff.
  • I do not harass, discriminate against or pressure anyone.
  • I respect experts’ time: I join on time, come prepared and cancel early if I need to (see the Cancellation Policy).

7. I keep things on the Platform

  • I keep all messages, sessions and payments on Unilearno.
  • I do not share personal contact details or arrange private sessions or payments with experts I meet through Unilearno.
  • I do not record or share sessions without everyone’s consent.

8. I protect privacy and intellectual property

  • I share only the information and materials needed for my session.
  • I do not share other people’s personal information without permission.
  • I use materials experts give me for my own learning only, and do not resell or publish them.

Preparing for a great session

Following this Code also helps you get the most from Unilearno:

  1. Describe what you want to understand or improve, not just the task you have to complete.
  2. Share relevant learning materials, such as lecture notes, the topic, or your own draft section if you want general feedback.
  3. Bring specific questions and try a few problems beforehand.
  4. Take your own notes during the session, then apply what you learned to your work yourself.
  5. Plan a follow-up session if you want to keep building the skill.

Parents and guardians

If you manage an account for a learner under 18, please read this Code with them. You agree to encourage honest learning, keep communication with experts on the Platform, and contact us if you have any concern about a session. Parents and guardians may attend or observe sessions for younger learners.

If the Code is broken

Breaking this Code may lead to a warning, cancelled Bookings without refund, or suspension or closure of your account, as explained in our Academic Integrity Policy and Acceptable Use Policy. We will usually give you the chance to explain before deciding.

Need help?

If you are unsure whether something is allowed, ask your Academic Expert or contact us at [email protected] before your session. We would always rather help you plan support that keeps your work your own.
